[ CALL FOR ABSTRACTS ]  

Abstracts of presentations to be made at the 2nd ICMAT & IUMRS - ICA 2003 are now being solicited. An abstract must be submitted on the abstract form provided.

 

 
[ ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES ]  

All abstracts must be typed on the enclosed abstract form.

The abstract may be submitted in the following ways:

  • By online abstract submission
  • By email, using the template provided

Fax copies will NOT be accepted.


All authors are encourage to submit the abstracts through online submission.

Abstract may also be sent to the Chair of the relevant symposium directly. The Chairs' contact details can be found at the respective symposium page.

Instructions must be strictly followed. Abstracts not conforming to the required format may be disqualified.

Completed abstract forms must be received no later than 15 August 2003.

All information on the Abstract Submission Form must be duly completed.

Submission of a signed form indicates acceptance of and compliance with the abstract submission rules.

Authors will be informed by 1 September 2003 whether their abstract has been accepted.

Full paper will be published ONLY after payment of the registration fee.

 
   
[ SUBMISSION FORMAT ]  
Abstract must be written in English only

Type the abstract title in BOLD using upper and lower case letters, and 10 point Arial or similar (sans serif) font.

Begin a new line for authors / affiliations.

List all authors and then list all affiliations. Use initials for first and middle names. The presenting author's name should be underlined.

When more than one author is listed, use superscript numbers to match authors and affiliations.

Affiliations should be listed with city, state and country.

Do not include degrees, street addresses or zip / postal codes in the listing of authors and affiliations.

Begin a new line and give the email address of the presenting author.

Type the body of the abstract using 10 point Arial or similar (serif) font. The abstract should be typed single-spaced with one line of space between paragraphs.

The abstract narrative should not exceed 300 words.

Do not indent paragraphs. The text must fit in the space provided.

Use standard abbreviations and symbols and define each abbreviation when it is used for the first time.

Tables and graphs, either computer-generated or neatly drawn in black ink, may be included if they fit within the space provided.

The body text should be justified at both ends.

Please note that the template is only compatible with MS Office Word 97 and above.

Although all effort will be made to accommodate your request on format of presentation, the Organising Committee reserves the final decision on format of presentation.

 
 
[ MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION ]  
The full manuscript may be submitted by email directly to the Chair of the relevant symposium.

Different symposia have different manuscript submission guidelines. The guideline for manuscript submission can be downloaded from the respective symposium page.

 
 
[ POSTER PRESENTATIONS ]  

Posters are scheduled for permanent display over 3 full days from Tuesday, December 9 to Thursday, December 11, 2003. However posters may be installed from the afternoon of Monday, December 8, 2003 and removed by lunchtime on Friday December 12, 2003. Formal viewing sessions will be designated for each Symposium. To be considered to win a poster prize, the poster must be attended by the author at the designated session time.

Technical Specifications:

  • Each presentation will be assigned a space clearly labelled with the identification number of the paper.
  • All poster sessions will be conducted in the Gallery of the Suntec City Convention Centre and be co-located with the Exhibition and Coffee Break areas.
  • Each formal poster session is scheduled for 1 hour.
  • The mounting boards and stands are provided and have the dimensions 1m (width) x 2.4 m (height).
  • The title and authors should be printed in large characters (at least 30mm high) at the top of the poster presentation.
  • The title of your paper should appear at the top of your poster in CAPITAL letters that are at least 30 mm high. Below the title put author(s) name(s) and affiliation(s). Use pictures, cartoons, and figures rather than text wherever possible. Use colour to draw the attention of the viewer.
  • Use text sparingly. The flow of your paper should be from top left to bottom right. You may use arrows to lead through the paper. Smaller text should be visible from 1 m.
  • Prepare your poster well in advance of the conference. There will be no time or materials available for last minute preparation at the conference.

Preparation and Mounting Specifications:

  • You are encouraged to prepare a professional, one-piece, rolled-up poster that does not exceed the dimensions of the mounting boards (A0 841 x 1189mm is the maximum size), and attach your poster directly to the board.
  • You may also mount multiple pieces using tape that will be supplied by ICMAT.
  • Pushpins are not allowed since they will damage the poster boards.

ICMAT to Award Poster Prizes!

Hours and hours of work are put into many of the posters presented at conferences. After their day of glory, the posters are packed away and the research moves on. At ICMAT 2003, a number of poster prizes will be available. Attempts will be made to give a poster prize to each symposium topic.

Each symposium committee will select the winning posters, and the prizes will be awarded at the ICMAT Banquet at Raffles The Plaza, Stamford Ballroom on the evening of Wednesday, December 10, 2003.

Each lucky winner will receive the following:

  • Award Certificate
  • SGD100 cash &
  • Invitation to the Banquet.
