Scope of Symposium
This symposium focuses on materials for energy storage systems bringing together scientists advancing our fundamental understanding of new electrode and electrolyte materials, their processing and characterization with application-oriented researchers that optimise materials by nanostructuring, defect or interface engineering for the integration in high performance devices and engineers that utilize the materials to realise the next generation of energy storage solutions with high energy and power density and improved safety for key applications such as electric vehicles and the grid integration of renewable energy sources. In particular contributions on the following topics are encouraged: -Novel Materials for enhanced energy and power density storage systems; -Lithium batteries: cathode, anode materials; -High performance Solid Electrolytes (glassy, crystalline, polymer) for energy storage systems; -Ionic liquids for batteries, supercapacitors and solar cells -Energy storage systems for electric vehicles and buffering renewable energy supplies -Materials and devices for batteries with enhanced safety -Solid-Electrolyte-Interface engineering -Electroceramics for high and intermediate temperature fuel cells -Novel synthesis and processing of nanostructured materials or devices -Nanoscale interfacial phenomena, nanocomposite electrodes, and 3D nano-architecture devices. -Materials characterisation by in-situ, space-resolved and nanoscale analysis -Fundamentals of charge transport in energy storage materials -Modelling and simulation of energy storage materials and systems
Proceedings Selected papers will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Solid State Electrochemistry, which offers publications of the contributions in the categories 'Reviews', 'Original Papers' and 'Short Communications'. Participants of the symposium will receive a copy of the special issue. The contributors are asked to submit their contributions via the Editorial Manager: http://www.editorialmanager.com/jsel/ The deadline of submissions is: 31 August 2011. Please specify in your letter to the journal editor that your manuscript is a "Contribution to Symposium N, ICMAT 2011".
