Welcome and Greetings
Xiang-Yang LIU, Chair - CGCT-5 Organizing Committee
It is my great pleasure to invite you participate this exciting event, the 5th Asian Conference on Crystal Growth and Crystal Technology (CGCT-5), organised jointly with the International Conference on Materials for Advanced Technologies (ICMAT 2011). After the series of the successful CGCT conferences, we are facing a challenge to organise a better one in Singapore. Nevertheless, the arising global issues, such as the exhaustion of world-wide natural resources and energy and the destruction of the global environment, have imposed a great challenge for the sustaining human development and providing high living standards. This requires the immediate attention and action from our scientists and engineers in order to provide a brighter and securer future to the next generation. In this regard, our colleagues from the crystallization community will certainly have important progress to report, and some Ideas to share. Singapore, playing a leading role in bio and nano sciences and technologies in the region, has been gearing up its efforts in the aforementioned area. Located in the heart of the Asia, the garden country will accommodate both people and their ideas to address these issues from the point of view of the advanced crystal growth and growth technologies. CGCT-5 will, therefore, provide a timely forum for scientists/engineers from universities, government institutes, and industry around the Asia and beyond to meet and discuss on the latest achievements and challenges concerned. The conference is held in conjunction with ICMAT-2011 which is excepting the participation of > 2500 delegates and planned lectures from Nobel Laureates. This combination will provide a unique and excellent opportunity for our colleagues to acquire an overview on the most exciting and up-to-date progress in other fields of materials sciences and technologies. I heartily welcome you to join us in this event, and am looking forward to your participation and contribution to CGCT-5.
Participation
The submission of abstract to CGCT-5 should be made ONLY to ICMAT2011
Symposia DD, EE, FF and GG
Abstract Submission Opens: 30 Sep 2010 Closes: 15 Feb. 2011
CGCT-5 Conference Proceedings
CGCT-5 conference proceedings will be published in Spring/Summer 2012 as a special issue in Journal Crystal Growth. The guest editors of this special issue are Prof. Xiang-Yang Liu, Prof. Dao Hua Zhang, Prof. Christian Kloc and Dr Ann Chow.
All manuscripts for the conference proceedings will be subjected to peer review according to the requirement of Journal of Crystal Growth. Only papers presented at the conference will be considered.
The manuscripts should be prepared following the journal guidelines (see JCG Guide for Authors). In addition, the printed page limits for the CGCT-5 proceedings are:
Keynote and Invited presentations - 6 journal pages
Regular presentations - 4 journal pages
In order to estimate the number of printed pages, the total number of pages of the manuscript (doubly-spaced, including references and figure captions but excluding tables and figures) should be multiplied by an average typesetting factor of 0.427. However, this factor is based on the assumption that the number of figures is not excessive (not more than one figure per journal page is recommended).
Manuscripts should be submitted online via the Journal of Crystal Growth website (http://ees.elsevier.com/crys/). Please select "Special issue CGCT-5" as the Article Type during the submission process.
Manuscript submission opens: 21 January 2011
Manuscript submission deadline: 26 June 2011
CGCT-5 General Assembly
There will be a CGCT general assembly at June 29, 2011 at lunch time (see the schedule in the link http://www.mrs.org.sg/icmat2011/activity.htm). All CGCT-5 participants (Symposia DD, EE, FF, GG) are invited.
