Overview

Nanoscale structures made of semiconductors show unique properties and open new avenues for photonics. Tremendous progress has been achieved in producing nano-structured materials and devices based on the advances made in self-assemble method and the template approaches. The objective of this symposium is to bring together scientists and engineers working on photonics, especially semiconductor photonics, to discuss the most recent developments in the growth of nano-structured materials, the fabrication of devices with optical property determined by nano scale features, and the simulation and characterization of these nano-structured materials and devices.

Topics

  • Quantum dots, wires, nano-columns, wells and other quantum confined system
  • Self-assembled and patterned nano-structured material growth or synthesis
  • Photonic crystals: modeling, fabrication, characterization and device application
  • Nano scaled photonic devices, e.g. LD, LED, detector, waveguide devices, photovoltaic device, etc.
  • Si nano-photonics
  • Light emitting ZnO nano-structures and devices
  • Novel photonic materials and devices
  • Modeling and simulation of nano-structured materials and devices
  • Nano-scale spatial-resolved characterization
  • Quantum and nonlinear optics in nano-structures
  • Light matter interactions in nanocavities
