"Drug Discovery in the p53 Pathway"
The p53 gene is mutant in half of all human cancers. In the remaining tumours the p53 signalling pathway is inactivated by other means, for example, loss of p19 ARF or over expression of Mdm2 or Mdm4. Detailed study of the p53 pathway is leading to the development of many new approaches to cancer drug development. Recent examples will be discussed.
